ARDEX Top the Class!
ARDEX UK has proved the versatility
of their range of tile fixing systems by providing the
complete fixing and grouting solution for a newly built
secondary school.
The Challenge College of Manningham,
Bradford designed as a 'state of the art' secondary
school required product systems and applicators that
had proven themselves in similarly testing environments.
B. Darnton & Co tiling contractors were commissioned
to fulfil the 3,000m²
of tiling required which included all of the school
corridors, seven staircases, toilet and shower facilities.
Having used ARDEX tiling systems on
numerous projects, B. Darnton & Co. had no hesitation
specifying ARDEX once again as the ideal products to
achieve the demanding time scale and performance criteria.
ARDEX-FLEX
S 38 flexible, rapid hardening floor tile bedding
mortar was used to fix 400 x 400mm floor tiles from
Ceramique International. The pourable consistency of
ARDEX-FLEX
S 38 ensured solid bedding was easily achieved without
having to butter the back of the tiles, whilst the rapid
hardening properties meant the tiles could be grouted
and walked on 5 hours after fixing.
ARDEX-FLEX
5001 grey flexible tile adhesive was used to fix
200 x 200mm wall and floors tiles as it has all the
features necessary for demanding areas such as a busy
school environment. User benefits including a slump
free consistency and excellent initial grab enables
even heavy wall tiles to be fixed without the need for
battens or spacers. The built-in admix ensures ARDEX-FLEX
5001 is suitable to fix all types of wall and floor
tiles including fully vitrified and porcelain.
To complete the total ARDEX system,
ARDEX-FLEX FL
rapid setting flexible tile grout with built in-admix,
was used to grout the wall and floor tile joints. ARDEX-FLEX
FL has rapid hardening properties, which enabled
the floor tiles to be walked on only 90 minutes after
application, thereby minimising downtime.
'This particular project included
the necessity to utilise products that would withstand
the latest underfloor heating technology installed at
the school and fix a variety of different tile types.
