SystemARDEX is Ideal for New Comet Store
Having regularly worked in partnership on many commercial flooring installations, Hull Flooring and trusted manufacturer of fast track flooring products ARDEX UK teamed up once again to deliver the ideal flooring solution on behalf of leading electrical retailer Comet.
ARDEX's commitment to research and development ensures that their range of commercial flooring systems stays ahead of the market, and at the leading edge of developments in materials technology. Hull Flooring knew that the specified ARDEX products would deliver a high performance and fast track installation, which is of critical importance in the retail sector.
The new 1800m² Comet store at East Kilbride required a durable, flat and smooth floor, which would receive final floorcoverings at the earliest possible opportunity. ARDEX's market leading water based self-levelling smoothing compound, ARDEX K 15 was selected for the project, as it is proven to provide outstanding performance.
The prepared sub-floor was primed with ARDEX P 82 prior to the application of ARDEX K 15 which delivers a smooth, hard and flat finish, regardless of whether pump or trowel applied. Benefiting from unique ARDEX 'Rapidry Formula' technology, which speeds hardening and drying times regardless of application thickness, the ARDEX K 15 surface was walkable only 2 hours after application and was ready to receive the carpet and vinyl floorcoverings within 24 hours.
To lay the carpets, ARDEX AF 200 General Purpose Carpet Adhesive was selected. Specifically developed for the UK flooring market, ARDEX AF 200 offers many benefits including a solvent free formulation, low odour and high yield. In addition, ARDEX AF 200 is easy to apply and has superb wet grab and an exceptionally long tack time, with very good early and long term adhesive strength. Highly versatile, ARDEX AF 200 is suitable for adhering a wide range of textile floorcoverings including fibre bonded, needle punch, latex and rubber foam backed, hessian, felt and resin backed carpets, along with some PVC-based sheet and tiles.
For installation of the vinyl floorcoverings, ARDEX AF 100 Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Flooring Adhesive was utilised. Incorporating ARDEX’s technically advanced floorcovering adhesives technology, ARDEX AF 100 is the ideal adhesive for use with all types of PVC/Vinyl floorcoverings and can be applied by trowel and then rolled to remove trowel serration marks.
