SYSTEM ARDEX has all the Answers
ARDEX UK have proved the versatility of their premium quality commercial flooring products, by providing the total system solution for a flooring refurbishment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn.
Flooring contractors, King’s Lynn Flooring Co. Ltd were commissioned to completely refurbish the Churchill Ward, Fermoy Unit within the hospital, including the wards, treatment rooms, corridors and toilets. With a wealth of successful installations within hospital environments, The King’s Lynn and Wisbech Hospital Trust Estates Department had no hesitation in specifying ARDEX to meet the demanding performance criteria.
The prepared sub-floor received a levelling layer of ARDEX K 13, which is ideal for the rapid resurfacing and levelling of existing concrete or cement/sand screeds. ARDEX K 13 can be applied up to 5mm thick in one application, but will retain its free flowing properties at a thickness of only 1.5mm to provide excellent coverage and material economy. The drying and hardening properties of ARDEX K 13 make it ideal for fast track installations as it can be walked on only 2 hours after application and is ready to receive floorcoverings after 24 hours, even at the maximum application thickness of 5mm.
Products from ARDEX’s new floorcovering adhesives range were specified to install several different types of floorcoverings. Specifically designed for the UK market, ARDEX floorcovering adhesives have solvent free formulations with low odour and high yield, making them ideal for use within hospital environments.
To fix the Forbo Nairn linoleum throughout the treatment rooms, ARDEX AF 700 High Performance Linoleum Sheet and Tile Adhesive was specified. Features of ARDEX AF 700 include excellent long term shear strength, exceptionally long tack time with superior grab and very good adhesive strength.
ARDEX AF 150 Adhesive was used to fix the Gerflor Tarasafe Trend vinyl floorcovering within the toilets. Developed to be ideal for the application of PVC/Vinyl floorcoverings, including sheet and tiles with foam and PVC backings, ARDEX AF 150 has a long tack time plus good early and long term strength.
To conclude, ARDEX AF 890 Surface Tackifier was used to install the Burmatex Tivoli 21 carpet tiles throughout the wards and corridors. ARDEX AF 890 has a short drying time with permanent tack, and is equally effective when roller or spray applied.
‘It is particularly important when working on behalf of the NHS to provide high performance, cost effective solutions. ARDEX’s innovative, system-led approach to their product development helps us to achieve consistently outstanding results for our clients’, commented Paul South of King’s Lynn Flooring.
