ARDEX Takes a Trip to the Country
The leading manufacturer of premium quality flooring & tiling systems, ARDEX UK, teamed up with D.Kelleher Flooring of Havant, Hampshire to deliver a high performance flooring solution for a store extension on behalf of retailer, SCATS Countrystores.
SCATS Countrystore in Dorchester completed a £1million extension and makeover, making it the flagship within the portfolio of 20 stores across the South East. The extended store has been designed around customer needs and feedback, and specifically caters for the strong farming, equine and rural community in and around Dorchester.
To commence the 1500m² extension project, the floor areas received ARDEX DPM 1 C, which provides a surface damp proof membrane and barrier to rising ground moisture. ARDEX DPM 1 C is a one coat system which guarantees the early laying of floorcoverings and can accommodate Hygrometer readings up to 98% RH.
Following the application of ARDEX P 82 primer to the cured DPM, ARDEX K 11 Levelling and Smoothing Compound was applied to provide a smooth and flat surface. Developed for use from 1.5 and 10mm thickness, (6mm on ARDEX DPM) ARDEX K 11 is a cost effective solution for levelling and smoothing sub-floors such as cement/sand screeds, gypsum screeds and concrete. Fast track projects benefit from the specification of ARDEX K 11, which is walkable after only 2½ hours, and floorcoverings can be applied the next day.
To complete the installation, a vinyl floorcovering was installed throughout the new extension using ARDEX AF 100 Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Flooring Adhesive. The benefits of ARDEX AF 100 include high yield, low odour and compatibility with under floor heating systems.
