Lights, Camera, Action with ARDEX!
When Radio Telefís Éireann (RTÉ), Ireland's Public Service Broadcaster required a flooring refurbishment of their studio one, ARDEX UK were delighted to provide the perfect flooring solution. Following an initial site visit with the main contractor, Advance Flooring Limited of Dublin, ARDEX were able to confidently specify an advanced system solution that would meet the project criteria.
The clear leader in Irish media, RTÉ provides a comprehensive broadcasting service to the Irish public on radio and television, and it was essential that a cost effective, fast track installation was achieved with particular emphasis being given to the installation of a totally flat and level floor surface in order for the television cameras to operate without obstruction.
Saber Systems Limited, specialist installers of high performance pumped levelling compounds were sub-contracted by Advance Flooring Limited to assist with the installation, which commenced with the removal of the 400m² original asphalt floor. The whole area was then primed with ARDEX R 3 E Solvent Free Epoxy Primer, which was sand blinded prior to Saber Systems pump applying ARDEX SD-T B base mix. Extensively used in a wide range of industries, ARDEX SD-T B is increasingly specified to provide unparalleled performance, versatility, flatness and durability. ARDEX SD-T B has built-in ARDEX ‘Rapidry Formula’ technology, which meant the new floor surface dried and hardened in a matter of hours, enabling the application of ARDEX K 80 topping.
Due to the exacting nature of the specification, leading consultants in high tolerance industrial floors, Combined Flooring Services of Hampshire, were recommended by ARDEX to survey the newly installed floor screed. With extensive experience of the strict requirements of TR34 the definitive Concrete Society code, Combined Flooring Services were pleased to conclude that the new floor did indeed meet the stipulated tolerance levels.
The final stage involved Advance Flooring Limited applying ARDEX R 25 E high performance epoxy resin flooring system. ARDEX R 25 E has been developed as a self-smoothing, epoxy resin floor finish, which combines outstanding wearing properties with chemical resistance and decorative properties. Ideal for areas where a seamless, joint free finish is required and maximum cleanliness is essential, ARDEX R 25 E is suitable for laboratories, clean rooms and general light industry.
