ARDEX Prescribe the Perfect Treatment
in South Africa
When one of the largest and most prestigious
hospitals in South Africa, the Pretoria Academic Hospital,
built a new building to complement their existing 999
bed capacity campus, high performance flooring products
by ARDEX were prescribed as the most efficient and effective
treatment.
ARDEX enjoy a global reputation for producing sophisticated
building products and for this hospital project were
delighted to work alongside Johannesburg flooring specialists,
The Peter Bates Group. Evidence of the considerable
investment in research and development by ARDEX is the
exceptional levels of innovation throughout their product
range which conveys reliable, cost efficient and highly
effective on-site performance.
With a history of successful hospital
floor installations, ARDEX's market leading water based
self-levelling smoothing compound, ARDEX
K 15 was specified as the ideal fast track flooring
solution for this large project. In order to withstand
the expected foot and light wheel based traffic commonplace
within hospital environments, a flat and durable floor
surface was necessary throughout the building, which
encompasses some 19,000m² and has a capacity for
700 additional patient beds.
The prepared and primed sub-floor
received a self-levelling layer of ARDEX
K 15, which provides a superb finish whether pump
or trowel applied. Incorporating unique ARDEX 'Rapidry
Formula' technology, ARDEX
K 15's rapid hardening properties meant that it
was walkable only 2 hours after application and the
additional benefit of rapid drying meant the final floorcovering
was applied within just 24 hours.
'Our products are respected worldwide as the most sophisticated,
fast track flooring systems available today. We were
delighted to provide an ARDEX system solution for this
prestigious hospital development in South Africa', said
Peter Bell, Managing Director of ARDEX UK.
