ARDEX 'Odds On' at the Races
ARDEX, pioneers in the development
and manufacture of high performance flooring products,
provided the ideal products for the job to assist in
the refurbishment of the Tote area at Newton Abbot Racecourse.
One of ARDEX's valued partners
in the trade, flooring contractor Classic Floors knew
that they would meet or exceed the various demands of
the project by applying products from the ARDEX range.
As the Tote area is one of the
most highly populated and trafficked areas of the racecourse
on a busy race day, it was essential that the sub-floor
provided a smooth, flat and hard surface ready to receive
the bespoke marmolium floor finish.
Classic Floors specified ARDITEX
and a damp proof membrane system. The components of
the system combine to provide all the necessary elements
required to fulfil the brief. The benefits of this system
have been consistently proven for over twenty years
throughout a large number of successful installations.
The 1000m²
project commenced with the existing concrete pavers
being pre-smoothed with the award winning ARDITEX
smoothing compound. ARDITEX
is a universal, latex-based sub-floor smoothing compound,
which is self-smoothing and can be used under a damp
proof membrane. A damp proof membrane was then applied
to the newly smoothed surface. A final 3mm layer of
ARDITEX was applied
to provide a quality finish ready to receive the marmolium
flooring within the timescale required.

we were able to guarantee a quality end result', said
