Me and Mr Normal
ARDEX
UK were recently delighted to provide ARDEX-FLEX
5000 flexible tile adhesive and ARDEX-FLEX
FL flexible tile grout to assist a unique arts project
undertaken at the Royal Hospital in Kent.
Artist
Timothy Clapcott, and his team, which included a number
of hospital residents and staff transformed the 100
foot long building in the heart of a hospital community,
using ceramics, glass, and mosaics. Timothy said 'the
ARDEX adhesives were fantastic and made it easier to
complete a professional finish to the project. In deference
to my client, we needed an adhesive that would grip
well and be extremely strong and permanent. Some of
the panels were hand made and very heavy, so safety
was an important factor, particularly in a hospital'.
The title
'Me and Mr Normal' is taken from a poem written by one
of the hospital residents, when he wrote about his search
for the simple pleasures of a 'normal' life. The poem
has been printed and fired onto tiles on the actual
building.
