The new M40 Welcome Break Service
Area, two miles north of Junction 12, now offers some
of the UK’s best facilities for the travelling public.
The £11m construction project included the northbound
and southbound service areas, fuel sales areas, a 56-bedroom
Travelodege and new access slip roads.
The challenge was to complete the
construction in an area notoriously lacking in facilities
with the minimum of delay to open the development at
the earliest opportunity. To meet this challenge and
facilitate the fixing of extensive areas of ceramic
floor tiling in the reception areas, restaurants and
toilet areas, ARDEX-FLEX
S38 floor tile bedding mortar and rapid setting
grouts from ARDEX were used.
The fluid consistency of ARDEX-FLEX
S38 enabled the large, dense floor tiles to be solid
bedded quickly and easily. The excellent coverage provided
by ARDEX-FLEX
S38 also makes it a very cost effective solution
to fixing tiles of all sizes, from mosaic to large format.
