ARDEX Makes a Grand Entrance at The Mall
ARDEX UK, world leaders in premium performance tile fixing products and support services, joined forces with Cerface Limited, Floor and Wall Tiling Contractors of Gillingham in Kent, to complete a new visitors’ entrance at The Mall, Maidstone. Situated in the heart of the town, The Mall shopping centre offers a mix of independent retailers and larger department stores, plus a selection of places to eat, making for a relaxing and enjoyable shopping experience.
ARDEX MICROTEC X 78 S Ultra Rapid Setting Floor Tile Adhesive in grey was specified to fix 320m² of 1200 X 540mm Riven anti slip porcelain tiles to level and ramped floor areas. The revolutionary combination of polymers, specialist cement and MICROTEC fibres give ARDEX X 78 S unsurpassed user benefits, including ultra rapid strength development and adhesion. The unique consistency provides enhanced performance including excellent application properties and high yield, plus all of the benefits of a pourable adhesive without the disadvantages (e.g. dripping). In addition, downtime was greatly minimised due to the rapid hardening performance that provides a walk on and grouting time of only 90 minutes.
ARDEX X 7 R Rapid Setting Flexible Tile Adhesive was used to fix 110m² of smaller sized 300mm x 300mm Riven anti slip porcelain tiles to a new pedestrian bridge, linking the new and existing buildings. ARDEX X 7 R is suitable for fixing all types of wall and floor tiles including porcelain, and is ready to be walked on and grouted just 2 hours after application. In addition, ARDEX X 7 R offers excellent slump resistance, superior application properties and suitability for use with underfloor heating.
The tile joints were grouted with ARDEX–FLEX FL Rapid Setting Flexible Grout in Ocean Grey. Specifically developed for use with wide tile joints from 3-15mm, ARDEX-FLEX FL is suitable for use with all types of tiles including porcelain, ceramic, most natural stone and quarry tiles, as well as extruded tiles and glass blockwork. With key features including flexibility, water repellence, ease of application and dirt resistance, plus availability in 32 fabulous colours, it is easy to see why ARDEX-FLEX tile grouts are chosen for many commercial locations, as well as swimming pools, kitchens, bathrooms, and wet rooms.
