ARDEX in the Lap of Luxury
ARDEX UK were delighted to have their sophisticated, high performance tiling products specified for use within an award winning luxury swimming pool complex. Converted from a Victorian Stable block in a private residence in Hampshire, the interior leisure complex consists of an upper pool, swimming pool, underwater whirlpool bath, gymnasium, steam room, showers, toilets and kitchen. The architectural design portrays opulence and style, and thus dictated that premium tile fixing systems from ARDEX, were a prerequisite of the specification.
Stone Productions Limited of Wandsworth, London were commissioned to install Burlington Elterwater honed slate throughout the entire leisure complex. English slate was chosen for all of the floor and wall coverings within the complex, as it has proven durability in leisure environments, and provided a contemporary finish, in keeping with the overall design.
As experienced installers of ARDEX products, Stone Productions had no hesitation in selecting ARDEX adhesives and grouts to fix the slate and deliver a flawless finish. The slate throughout the complex was fixed with ARDEX X 7 W white tile adhesive in conjunction with ARDEX E 90 admixture. The versatility of ARDEX X 7 W ensured that the fixing of tiles with small course heights of 42, 54 and 70mm, proved no problem. Suitable for use with most natural stone and all ceramic tiles, including fully vitrified and porcelain, the combination of ARDEX X 7 W and ARDEX E 90 is ideal for virtually all domestic and commercial tiling applications.
To complete this prestigious project, all of the slate tiles were grouted using ARDEX C 2 grey cement-based tile grout with ARDEX E 101 grout admixture. Both easy to apply and clean off, and suitable for tile joints 2mm or more in width, ARDEX C 2 ensured a perfect finish.
‘The specification of this project dictated highly skilled workmanship and first-class products. We knew that by teaming up with ARDEX we would be able to guarantee a superb finish which has helped to ensure that this swimming pool leisure complex looks stunning, and justifies its award winning status’, commented Alex Stables of Stone Productions.
