ARDEX on the Shop Floor
ARDEX UK, the leading manufacturer
of advanced fast track flooring products teamed up with
Industrial Floor Treatments (IFT) flooring contractors,
from Paisley Scotland, to complete a large flooring
refurbishment assignment on behalf of the John Lewis
department store in Edinburgh.
Efficient operating procedures were
paramount for this project as it presented restricted
street access, a limited in-store working area, plus
minimum storage space for building materials. The solution
to these challenging conditions was 70 tonnes of ARDEX
A 35 MIX which has the sand already blended in,
eliminating the need to store large quantities of sand
on-site. Installation was predominantly overnight, during
weekends and naturally completion on time was critical
to ensure that the store opening hours remained unaffected.

A 35 MIX pre-blended rapid screeding and screed
repair mortar was chosen as it has been repeatedly proven
as the most reliable, versatile and efficient pre-blended
fast track screed in today's marketplace.
Benefits of this product include excellent
hardening and drying properties achievable through the
unique ARDEX Rapidry Formula technology, which chemically
binds the mix water without evaporation. The mixed and
applied mortar dried to provide a quality finish, which
was ready to receive the floorcovering only 24 hours
after application.
