New Swimming Pool at Herne Bay
As Europe’s leading manufacturer
of quality adhesives and grouts, ARDEX UK Limited has
a wealth of experience when it comes to fixing ceramic
tiles in swimming pools and wet areas.
For this reason, Trafalgar House's
tiling contractor, Tileforce Limited, chose a range
of ARDEX products to fix the Swedecor tiles at the new
swimming pool complex for Canterbury City Council. The
new facility in Herne Bay includes a main swimming pool
complex, a learner pool, flume ride and Jacuzzi area.
The design is unusual in that it is housed in a circular
building.
Tileforce Limited used ARDEX
X 7 cement-based adhesive and ARDEX
C 2 grout, in conjunction with ARDEX
E 101 admixture for water repellent tile joints,
for the pool areas.
Prior to fixing the tiles, ARDEX
S 21 adhesive, because of it’s rapid setting properties,
was used on the pool surrounds to level uneven surfaces
and a mix of sand and ARDEX
S 21 was applied to create ramps. The horizontal
tiling on the pool surround was then fixed with ARDEX-FLEX
S 38 for ease of solid bedding.
The changing rooms and shower
areas, also designed in a circular fashion, were all
tiled using ARDEX adhesives and grouts, with tiles by
Swedecor.
