ARDEX Help to Ensure a Perfect Delivery
ARDEX UK, specialists in the development and manufacture of high performance commercial flooring systems, provided the ideal products to assist in the construction of the new Department of Family Services at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.
One of ARDEX’s valued partners in the trade, Saber Systems Limited, were commissioned to complete the flooring levelling and smoothing stages of the new 100 room unit. As with all hospital environments, the need to install a hard, flat and cost efficient sub-floor was paramount, the specified systems from ARDEX met the brief perfectly.
Proven within a wide variety of buildings, the ARDEX DPM/ARDEX K 15 damp proof membrane and levelling system was specified to quickly provide a smooth and level sub-floor, which would enable early installation of floorcoverings capable of withstanding foot and heavy wheel based traffic commonplace within hospitals.
The easy to apply 2 coat damp proof membrane, ARDEX DPM, was applied to the prepared concrete base. The first coat of ARDEX DPM being red and the second coat green, allowing the user to visually control the thickness and coverage uniformity of each coat. After curing ARDEX DPM produces a damp proof membrane with high inherent strength and an excellent bond to appropriate substrates, including very damp concrete and screeds.
Following application of ARDEX P 82 primer to the cured ARDEX DPM, the advanced rapid drying self-levelling sub-floor smoothing compound, ARDEX K 15 was applied to produce a smooth and level surface ready to receive the floorcovering. Benefiting from unique ARDEX ‘Rapidry Formula’ technology, ARDEX K 15 rapidly hardened and dried so that it could be walked on after only 2 hours and was ready to receive the final floorcovering within 24 hours.
Jim Shepherd of Saber Systems said ‘When teaming up with ARDEX, we know that we can guarantee our clients superior fast track performance. The ARDEX DPM/ARDEX K 15 damp proof membrane and levelling system performed brilliantly and enabled us to complete the project in just one week’.
