ARDEX Dive in at the Deep End!
ARDEX, world leaders in high
performance tile fixing products and support services,
have recently assisted one of their partners in the
trade by providing the complete fixing and grouting
solution for an impressive new swimming pool complex.
Bradford Grammar School in West
Yorkshire, commissioned B. Darnton & Co. tiling contractors,
to fix new tiles throughout the complex including the
entire swimming pool, changing room facilities and surrounding
area. The 25m x 12m competition size swimming pool required
over 1500m²
of tiling and the collective expertise of B. Darnton
& Co and ARDEX, combined to ensure that the very best
in both products and services were dedicated to this
important new project.
Following consultation with
ARDEX UK, B. Darton & Co. utilised ARDEX-FLEX
5000 flexible tile adhesive for fixing the tiles
to the pool surround and extensive changing room facilities.
ARDEX-FLEX
5000 was chosen because it provides a wide range
of benefits including, excellent slump resistance, enhanced
adhesion properties and the ability to fix all types
of tiles, including porcelain. In addition, ARDEX-FLEX
5000 has the admix already built-in which guarantees
factory assured levels of performance and resulted in
significant cost savings on the project compared to
using a traditional cement-based adhesive with a separate
admix.
To provide the perfect finish
to the tiling, ARDEX-FLEX
FLrapid setting flexible tile grout with built in
admix, was used to grout the wall and floor tile joints.
The rapid hardening properties of ARDEX-FLEX
FL enabled floor tiles to be walked on only 90 minutes
after application, ensuring downtime was kept to a minimum.
