ARDEX Provides the Perfect System Solution for DAKS
One of London's most revered luxury department stores, DAKS on Old Bond Street, has recently undergone a redesign to help shoppers enjoy the DAKS experience. The new store design has been divided into areas for separate collections and the store boasts handcrafted panels of English Oak and suede lining.
Leading flooring contractors, Hull Flooring Limited, teamed up with ARDEX UK, the premier manufacturer of high performance flooring systems, to install 300m² of new floorcoverings throughout the ground and first floor sales areas, and back of house locations.
ARDITEX NA, the most technically advanced low odour latex smoothing compound from ARDEX, was used to prepare the subfloors prior to installation of final floorcoverings. Developed as a self-smoothing, protein free latex levelling compound, ARDITEX NA is ideal for use on virtually all substrates and it can be laid from a feather edge up to at least 12mm in a single application. Thicknesses up to 30mm are also possible when ARDEX Aggregate is incorporated into the mix. Excellent properties of adhesion and flexibility are assured with ARDITEX NA, and it is ideal for levelling concrete, cement/sand screeds, flooring grade asphalt, quarry tiles and even internal steel decks without priming.
ARDEX FEATHER FINISH was used to prepare the existing plywood areas. ARDEX FEATHER FINISH provides easy and convenient on-site working as it only requires the addition of water to produce an exceptionally strong bond without the additional expense of primers. ARDEX FEATHER FINISH dries rapidly to deliver a true feather-edge that allows further work to commence after as little as 15 minutes. In addition, ARDEX A 45 rapid hardening and drying internal repair mortar was utilised to patch repair various areas prior to receipt of floorcoverings. ARDEX A 45's rapid hardening and drying properties meant that these surface areas could receive final floorcoverings only 90 minutes after application.
To install Polyflex Plus vinyl tiles within the 'back of house' areas, ARDEX AF 100 Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Flooring Adhesive was utilised. Suitable for use with all types of PVC/vinyl floorcoverings, ARDEX AF 100 can be applied by trowel and then rolled to remove all trowel serration marks.
To fix the carpets throughout the ground and first floor sales areas, ARDEX AF 200 General Purpose Carpet Adhesive was selected. With excellent early and long term adhesive strength, exceptionally long tack time and superior wet grab, ARDEX AF 200 is the floor fitters adhesive of choice for the application of textile floorcoverings including fibre bonded, needle loom, latex and rubber foam backed, hessian, felt and resin backed carpets, plus some PVC-based sheet and tiles.
