ARDEX Ensure a Quick Check-out at
ASDA
Having previously completed many quality
flooring refurbishments on behalf of ASDA, the supermarket
chain had no hesitation in again requesting the duo
of ARDEX UK and Q Flooring Systems of Manchester to
refurbish the 9000m² floor area of their new store
within the Eastgate Centre, Basildon.
Once the existing ceramic tiles and
30mm of screed underlay were removed, it became apparent
that this project would present a number of technically
challenging issues. However, ARDEX are not only renowned
for manufacturing high performance products, but also
for providing their customers with comprehensive technical
support. With this particular project, ARDEX worked
alongside Q Flooring with experienced members of the
ARDEX Technical Services Team on-site to offer guidance
and advice when needed, which resulted in the specification
of the most appropriate ARDEX fast track flooring system.
The solution was to use ARDEX
A 35 rapid drying cement for floor screeds, which
has an extensive track record of success in many different
kinds of retail environments through providing key benefits
including fast track performance, cost effectiveness
and ease of use. ARDEX
A 35 was bonded to the sub-floor with an ARDEX
E 100 bonding slurry to deliver a strong, flat and
level surface. In addition, due to built-in ARDEX Rapidry
Formula Technology, the ARDEX
A 35 screed surface was hard enough to be walked
on only 3 hours after application and had dried to enable
further work after just 24 hours. A standard cement/sand
screed would have required a wait of at least a month
before it would be hard and dry enough for further work
to commence.
'By working with ARDEX we continue
to ensure that we provide our clients with a professional,
reliable and consistent service. The ARDEX technical
support on this particular project was the pivotal factor
which enabled us to deliver another superb completion
on budget and on time', commented Dave Robinson of Q
Flooring.
