ASDA Experience the ARDEX Effect
ARDEX UK, the trusted name in high
performance specialist building materials, joined forces
with Q Flooring Systems of Manchester, to deliver the
perfect flooring refurbishment system solution for supermarket
chain ASDA.
As the ASDA store in Long Benton,
Newcastle trades seven days a week, the project demanded
efficient operating procedures to ensure that opening
hours remained unaffected. Q Flooring Systems considered
the solution to be simple; specify high performance,
fast track flooring systems from ARDEX, which have been
comprehensively proven within the retail sector to provide
rapid and effective results.
The 7000m² project had to be
completed in sections, with work being carried out overnight.
To commence, the original floorings were removed and
the exposed base shot blasted, prior to application
of ARDEX's Surface Damp Proof Membrane, ARDEX
DPM, which has been specifically created to be compatible
with ARDEX's range of commercial flooring systems. ARDEX
DPM is easy to apply, cost effective and hardens
to provide a membrane with high inherent strength and
durability.
The next stage was to apply a bonded
30mm thick ARDEX
A 35 cement and sand screed. Further savings on
downtime were made at this stage, due to ARDEX
A 35 incorporating ARDEX Rapidry Formula Technology
which provides consistently fast hardening and drying
times, enabling the screed surface to be walked on only
3 hours after application, with further work commencing
after just 24 hours.

trading hours, it was critical that each installation
stage remained on schedule. As expected, the sophisticated
ARDEX DPM/ARDEX
A 35 Screeding System performed perfectly, to ensure
that we met both the performance and timescale requirements
of this major retail project', said Dave Robinson of
